2. Chrome Web Store Single-Purpose Compliance & Extension Permissions

The PriceWatch browser extension operates under Google's strict Single Purpose Policy: to provide real-time price comparisons, historical price charts, and price drop notifications while you browse supported e-commerce websites.

To deliver this functionality, the extension requests the following browser permissions:

• Tabs / Host Permissions (Specific E-commerce Domains): Used strictly to identify whether the active webpage is a supported e-commerce product page (such as Amazon or Flipkart), extract the product identifier (ASIN or Product ID) to query current deals, and display comparison widgets. The extension never inspects or sends data from banking, healthcare, social media, or personal communication sites.
• Storage: Used locally on your device to remember user settings, selected country/currency preference, and cached deal lookups to minimize network usage.
• Notifications: Used only to alert you on your desktop when a watched product on your wishlist drops below your target price.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use Statement: PriceWatch's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• Credit card, debit card, UPI, bank account, or payment billing information.
• Account login passwords for Amazon, Flipkart, or any merchant website.
• Personal chat messages, emails, search history outside shopping domains, or private browsing data.
• Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from children under the age of 13.

PriceWatch provides outbound links to external merchant platforms (such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, and Croma). When you click through our links to purchase a product, we may earn an affiliate commission at zero additional cost to you.

All communications between your browser, our servers, and third-party APIs are encrypted with industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols. User authentication tokens are securely encrypted via Supabase Auth.
